As a concept, co-working spaces increasingly reflect the rise of independent professionals shunning more traditional offices. At first glance, co-working spaces allow people to share an office and get access to printers, scanners, copiers and high-speed internet. Many of the smaller independent co-working spaces are creating a "workplace as a service" model. The growing popularity of co-working spaces represent a convergence of multiple trends that are developing in line with tech startups. Mr Amarit says the local co-working space market still has room for growth, as there are only 20,000 sq m of co-working space, compared with 9 million sq m of commercial office space.
